💥 IADS: The Game at Your Hobby Place Alexandria!

First-ever blog post by me — Madonna! 💁🏻‍♀️

I wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone at Your Hobby Place in Alexandria for hosting (and approving!!) the sale of IADS: The Game in their store! Special thanks to Chris for offering Ric and me an extra-large table — and an extra-large gaming mat — for our extra-large map!

🎲 How We Approach Store Demos

Every in-store demo has been a little different, but I usually walk into these types of events expecting them to follow three basic steps:

Step 1: Arrive early to set up

Step 2: Demo the game

Step 3: If they like it, get down to business and talk options

Not every shop has wanted to go through the full demo (our favorite part, what the heck!), while others want to dive straight into numbers. Either way, we're grateful for the opportunity.

One store owner I’d love to publicly thank is Mr. Julius Edano at Westside Comics and Games in O‘ahu — he gave our company some much-needed mentorship when we were just getting started as LoRokka Games in early 2024.

👾 Great Vibes at Your Hobby Place

At Your Hobby Place, things went exactly how we hoped!

Step 1:

The technical-looking setup drew a lot of curious eyes. We were thrilled to meet Jordan and Mike, who invited us to return for the upcoming Your Hobby Place Summer Bash! 🎉

Step 2:

Mike and I crushed Ric’s IADS defenses 14 to 2. RIP to our Heavy Bomber! ✈️ We even made a sale on the spot — thanks, Tom, for picking up the last copy of our Advanced Capabilities Expansion Set until the next order comes in!

Step 3:

Mike and I sat down and got into brass tacks. We landed on a consignment deal, where the shop provides shelf space in exchange for a share of profits. For an up-and-coming indie game like ours, we’re grateful to be accepted wherever we can be.
